People have been in awe of the plasma screen television from the moment it hit the market. Unsurprisingly, many people simply preferred the newer model’s thin and flat look to that of the old, bulkier model. In contrast to the older sets, the new plasma screen television were lean, and therefore much more flexible. The newer model allows you to suspend from the ceiling or mount on the wall. The plasma screen was particularly popular in showrooms because of these designs, which saved a considerable amount of space.
So what is the technology behind such a radical advancement in the way we enjoy our favorite shows and movies? Unlike the average set, the plasma screen television does not use cathode ray tubes (CRT) in producing its images. The amount of space required to house a television in the pre-plasma era is mostly to blame on the CTR that was included. Instead of the CRT, the plasma screen television is comprised of “cells” or glass compartments injected with a gas called neon-xenon. This gas is then suspended in plasma and when electrically charged it can strike phosphors colored blue, green, and red. After the phosphors erupt, and image is produced.
The size of a plasma screen television is a draw that makes many people purchase them. Features can easily have negative consequences for those that are blinded by the positives. The size range of a plasma screen television - anywhere around 32 to 63 inches, typically - often leads people to think that the bigger the set, the better, but that isn’t true. The main consideration is what the room size for the television will be. You’re going to have to remember size of the room and placement of the set in comparison to where you want to sit, since the sets will be large enough even if you get the smallest size.
You’ll want to avoid sitting too close to the television screen, as it can cause several harmful health defects. It’s important for people with 32-37 inch sets to keep their distance a comfortable 6-10 feet. You can decrease your probability of getting a health disease with a 42 to 46 machine if you keep at least a ten to fourteen feet distance from the machine. A full fifteen feet should be the distance that you keep from a 50-60 inch set. If you get a super large set that measures more than sixty inches, you need to keep at least a 25 feet distance.
